The Awareness League is a Nigerian anarchist organisation with a couple of thousand members. Nigeria is a military dictatorship and the Awareness League has gone through several periods of repression which along with the poverty of most Nigerians has made contact with anarchists elsewhere sporadic. The Awareness League joined the Anarchist International, the IWA-AIT at the Madrid congress in December of 1996.
