For information on the DC comic-book character of the same name, see Metron (comics)

The Metron is a unit of surface area used in Heim Theory and is analogous to the branes of string theory. Heim theory is a term used to describe a non-mainstream 'theory of everything', proposed by Burkhard Heim and further developed by Walter Dröscher and Jochem Häuser. The Metron is approximately equal to the Planck length squared, or 10−70 m². In common language, one could best describe this area as "vastly smaller than anything we ever deal with". The term is in use in this context since the 1950s and so pre-dates Star Trek's Metrons.
