Food Not Bombs (FNB) is an anarchist organization which serves free food often in public places in protest of militarism.
FNB is sometimes called a "franchise anarchist organization", because Food Not Bombs and other organizations like it have formed all over the world. FNB is a more akin to an idea than an decentralized organization.
FNB got its name from graffiti which read "money for food, not for bombs". The group has four main tenants:
- vegetarianism, All food served should have no meat, dairy or eggs.
- food recycling, dumpster diving.
- consensus decision making. Any decision made by the group needs to be "consented" by the entire group.
- non-violence
There are other organizations with similar names that have formed with a similar organizational structure:
Homes Not Jails - A squatter organization. Bikes Not Bombs Food Not Lawns - A guerilla gardening group.
