Leninism refers to several related political and economic theories detailed by Vladimir Lenin, and by other theorists who claim to be carrying on Lenin's work. Leninism builds upon and elaborates the ideas of Marxism, and serves as a philosophical basis for the ideology of Soviet Communism.

Leninism resulted in state-capitalism, state-management of production and society, rule over the working class by the class of the state (as in a capitalist system) and a new bureaucracy. However, many think Lenin himself never practiced this.
