Great :) I was sure that some expirienced Wikipedians would come to Anarchopedia. Because a lot of people (as well as a lot of anarchists) are not familiar with wikis. And the way of working on wiki is a lot different from work on other site. (And, yes, work is not right word, but my English is not so good :) ) BTW, you are Russian? Do you want Anarchopedia in Russian? BTW2, do you know do work on GNU/Linux? --millosh 08:50, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
: I would be considered Russian by many people, and i think that is what you are talking about... right? q;-) I wouldn't mind getting russian version of Anarchopedia started, but let me get english version down to the degree when people can actually use it as some sort of a refference. Btw, in your opinion what is the main point of Anarchopedia, what i'm trying to do is to actually show how encyclopedia can be written without any regulations... so it would be to see if Wikipedia is the only way or only one way.

Initially, I started a small number of languages for Anarchopedia. Even there are a lot of Spanish speaking anarchists, I :spa: is not so active. Italian Anarchopedia doesn't have 2 articles. So, I stopped openning of new languages until there are some people who are interested in writing Anarchopedia in their language. I noticed that your name is Russian and I thought that you mey want to open Anarchopedia in Russian. --millosh 08:21, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I agree that Anarchopedia in English should be much better then it was before you came. Anarchopedia in German and in :fra:French are much better then this one. And only because there were no people who wanted to do what you are doing now. (My English is not so good; also I am trying to be involved in creating articles as less as I can because I think that people should not care what do I think about exact content of articles.) --millosh 08:21, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I started Anarchopedia with this ideas: (1) Free knowledge is one of the main anarchist goals and "one big anarchist encyclopedia" should be written in such way. (However, there is Infoshop OpenWiki which is older then Anarchopedia, but it has some disadvantages; as well as we can treat Wikipedia as enough good place for encyclopedic articles about anarchism.) So, the first, but not the most important reason is to build "encyclopedia about anarchism" in "anarchic fashion" ;) (2) Anarchopedia should be, also, "encyclopedia for anarchists", which includes (in general) something like "general encyclopedia without right wing POV and without authoritarian POV" (even it is called NPOV on Wikipedia). So, in general, all articles from Wikipedia are welcome here. Of course, with some changes :) (3) I would not say that Anarchopedia would be "without regulations", but "without power structure". All editors of Anarchopedia are equal and they are regulating Anarchopedia. I think that you did mean the same. (4) And, maybe the most important idea is to see how can we build anarchy, at least in cyrber space. I treat Anarchopedia as some kind of social experiment (but, of course, not only as a social experiment): if we have enough responsibility and enough strength to build "Wikipedia without power structure", we would be able to say that we have enough responsibility and enough strenght to build anarchy in the future. Also, successful Anarchopedia would give possibility for successful (Anarchopedian) community, which would be a great event. --millosh 08:21, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Infinity0: /* Anarcho-capitalism */ line break

Does the Anarchist Cookbook really have anything to do with anarchism? Is there such a thing as anarcho-capitalism? Fortunately for anarchists, there is no central committee or theory coordinator to decide what the correct anarchist line is on any given topic. Anarchism is very much defined and given form by its supporters. But there comes a time when the concept must be defended against those who would lie about it, misrepresent it, profit from it, or just plain not understand it. That is the purpose of this page. The anarchist movement is a big tent with a great many sideshows, but there are just some folks who are not circus performers.

National Anarchists and Third Positionists
Be aware that there are efforts underway to fuse nationalist, white supremacist, and neo-nazi ideology with anarchism. While anarchists are fundamentally against fascism, nationalism, racism, and white supremacy, we can't control those who associate anarchism with these ideologies. The following websites represent attempts by neo-nazis to pass themselves and their ideas off as compatible with anarchism:

*American Revolutionary Vanguard
*National-anarchist
*Overthrow.com - The crazy anti-semitic guy who runs this website claims to have been an anarchist at one time. This is false, like most of the made-up news and "information" on his website.
*Terra Firma

Destructive "anarchism"
While many schools of anarchist thought promote the destruction of oppressive institutions, many people and organizations take part in violent and destructive activities without political or ethical motives. Unfortunately for the movement, many of these people claim to be anarchists. Anarchism is more about creating alternative instutions, communities, and lifestyles rather than blindly destroying those already in place.

The Anarchist Cookbook
The Anarchist Cookbook is an example of this kind of anger-motivated destruction. Here are some links to articles about what the anarchist community has to say about the Cookbook:
Anarcho-capitalism
Most anarchists who have heard this term think it is an oxymoron. The anarchist movement has a tradition dating back over a hundred years of opposition to capitalism.

This new concept, "anarcho-capitalism" as it's called by its proponents, flies in the face of this history. It is probably better described as "libertarian capitalism," which is similar to extropianism and contemporary party libertarianism in the United States. These are the folks who want to liberate themselves from government, but still want to be your boss.

Fake anarchism from boss-loving rich white boys who have never had to work a shitty job in their lives:
*James's Liberty file collection index

Anarchy as an attitude
Some folks think that if they present themselves as anarchists, it lends them an aura of coolness, danger, hipness, or radicalness.
*Miles' Apathetic Anarchy Page

Black hat hacking
Breaking into computers, collecting private information, and destroying data are actions that some people claim to do in the name of anarchism. These actions do not necessarily represent the ideals of those of us in the anarchist movement and generally do more harm than good. There is, however, a small minority of crackers that use their knowledge of computer security to break into computers and carry out actions against corporations and governments that engage in objectionable practices. These people are refered to as "grey hat hackers." However, most "hackers" (who are refered to as "black hat hackers") do not have ethical or political motives. Some of these black hat hackers claim to be anarchists, while they usually are not.

Commerical Sites
*Anarchy Entertainment - These guys have been online for some time. They design games and use their hip "anarchist" theme to sell them.
*Anarchy-Online.com - A site mostly for hackers. Not as bad as most fake anarchy sites, but still very misleading nonetheless. They should rename themselves "coolhackers.com" or something like that.

Fake Libertarian Sites
Yep, there are a bunch of folks in the United States who just don't have clue about what being a libertarian is about. They'd like the world to think that it means freedom from constraint so they can make profits. Not.

*National-anarchist
*Overthrow.com - The crazy anti-semitic guy who runs this website claims to have been an anarchist at one time. This is false, like most of the made-up news and "information" on his website.

Anarchy as an attitude
Some folks think that if they present themselves as anarchists, it lends them an aura of coolness, danger, hipness, or radicalness.

Not.

*Libertarian.org
*The Independent Institute
*Free Market.net - Used to be free-market.COM. Guess they aren't very good capitalists.
*The Cato Institute - Probably the worst of these bootlicker sites. Cato advises the capitalist bosses on how to screw the rest of us.
